The program has certainly had successful runs and produced NFL talent, but it has struggled to establish itself as a consistent threat to the powers that be in the Big Ten. Purdue football has existed since the late-1800s, but serious title contention has eluded the Boilermakers for the majority of each century during which it’s competed. While the 2010s were unkind to Purdue football, the Boilermakers are looking to build on some early momentum in the 2020s after winning nine games, including the Music City Bowl, in 2021.
